Description
Description
Dried puffed black soldier fly larvae – 100% natural, without preservatives.
Our larvae are gently dried in Bremen, Germany, and supply high-quality protein, healthy fats including omega-3 and omega-6, fibre, vitamins (especially B vitamins and vitamin A), minerals such as calcium, iron and zinc, and antioxidants.
What does “puffed” mean?
These larvae are processed differently during drying than our classic dried larvae. Puffing changes their shape, so they look more like mealworms – interesting for animals used to mealworms.
Intended as a complementary feed – not as a complete feed.
Which animals is it suitable for?
- Poultry: chickens, turkeys and pigeons
- Exotic birds: parrots, budgerigars and canaries
- Wild birds: blackbirds, thrushes, tits, woodpeckers, sparrows, pigeons and crows
- Fish: koi, goldfish, perch and other pond fish
- Reptiles: geckos such as the leopard gecko, bearded dragons, chameleons, sand lizards, skinks and monitor lizards
- Rodents: hamsters, mice and rats
- Amphibians: frogs, toads and newts
- Wildlife: hedgehogs, foxes, martens and bats
Benefits of dried insects
- Long shelf life and freshness: gentle drying at low temperature keeps the larvae nutritious – entirely without preservatives.
- Space-saving and practical: no refrigeration needed, simply store them.
- Easy to dose: perfectly portionable and ready to use.
- Top quality: less oxidation protects the nutrients, protein and fatty acids stay intact.
Feeding recommendation
You can offer the larvae from your hand, from the ground or from most feeders – either on their own or mixed with the main feed. The quantity depends on the size and needs of your animal.
Storage
Store cool, dry and away from light. No refrigeration required.
Why black soldier fly larvae are sustainable
Black soldier fly larvae are extremely efficient at converting organic matter into protein-rich feed. They grow on minimal resources, are biodegradable and help close material cycles and reduce the ecological footprint of animal nutrition.
