Description
Description
Blanched black soldier fly larvae in a practical pouch – whole larvae, ready to use.
The larvae of Hermetia illucens supply high-quality protein, healthy fats including omega-3 and omega-6, fibre, vitamins (especially B vitamins and vitamin A), minerals such as calcium, iron and zinc, and antioxidants. Compared with mealworms they contain less chitin, which makes them easier to digest.
Important note
Intended as a complementary feed – not as a complete feed.
Which animals is it suitable for?
- Wildlife: hedgehogs, foxes, martens and bats
- Wild birds: blackbirds, thrushes, tits, woodpeckers, sparrows and crows
- Poultry: chickens, turkeys and pigeons
- Reptiles: geckos, bearded dragons, chameleons, skinks and monitor lizards
- Fish: koi, goldfish, perch and other pond fish
- Rodents: hamsters, mice and rats
Benefits of the pouch
- Ready to use: no thawing, no preparation.
- Soft and easy to digest: blanching keeps the larvae succulent.
- Practical to portion: the pouch can be resealed.
- Whole insect: nothing is removed – as natural as it gets.
Feeding recommendation
Only take out as much as you feed straight away. The quantity depends on the species, age and needs of your animal.
Storage
Store unopened in a cool, dry place. Once opened, keep in the fridge and use within a few days.
Why black soldier fly larvae are sustainable
Black soldier fly larvae are extremely efficient at converting organic matter into protein-rich feed. They grow on minimal resources, are biodegradable and help close material cycles and reduce the ecological footprint of animal nutrition.
