Description
Description
Frozen wax moth larvae, blanched and individually removable – energy-rich and easy to digest.
Our wax moth larvae are blanched and then frozen. That gives them a more stable shape, a longer shelf life after thawing and can improve acceptance. The larvae are particularly rich in fat and also supply a good portion of protein – energy and building blocks for growth, skin and metabolism.
Important note
Because of the very high fat content, wax moth larvae are intended as a complementary feed – not as a complete or main feed. They are especially good for quickly building undernourished animals back up.
Benefits of our product
- Made in the EU: from controlled breeding.
- Free from preservatives: no artificial additives.
- Easy to digest: the soft body makes the larvae ideal for juveniles and sensitive eaters.
- Appealing taste: the high fat content makes them particularly tasty.
Protein content in comparison
- Wax moth larvae: approx. 15–18% protein
- Crickets: approx. 18–22% protein
- Mealworms: approx. 20–25% protein
- Black soldier fly larvae: approx. 35–45% protein
Which animals is it suitable for?
- Birds: chickens, tits, robins, woodpeckers, starlings
- Reptiles: geckos, bearded dragons, chameleons, agamas
- Amphibians: frogs, salamanders, axolotls
- Invertebrates: tarantulas, scorpions
- Fish: larger ornamental fish such as cichlids and catfish
- Small mammals: hedgehogs, hamsters, mice
Benefits of frozen insects
- Long shelf life and freshness: freezing preserves the nutrients without any loss of freshness or quality.
- Nutrients are retained: the larvae are frozen at exactly the right moment – without preservatives.
- Easy portioning: individually removable – precisely dosed, with hardly any waste.
Thawing and feeding recommendation
- Gentle thawing: thaw the larvae in a container at room temperature. Depending on the quantity this takes 30–60 minutes.
- Quick thawing: put the larvae in a fine sieve and briefly pour lukewarm water (max. 30–35 °C) over them. Not too hot – otherwise the proteins coagulate and the larvae lose structure and nutritional value. Feed immediately once drained.
- Do not boil or heat.
- Portion size: depending on species and size, 2–5 larvae per feeding. Only take out as many as you feed immediately.
- Hygiene: clean the feeding bowls regularly to avoid bacteria and mould.

Shipping with dry ice
Delivered by express in a polystyrene box with dry ice (–78 °C).
Safety information on dry ice:
- Do not touch – direct skin contact can cause severe cold burns. Always use gloves or a cloth.
- Do not swallow and never add to drinks – dry ice is not a food.
- Ventilate well – dry ice evaporates into CO₂ gas, which can cause oxygen depletion in enclosed rooms.
- Do not seal airtight – the pressure that builds up can burst containers.
- Keep away from children.
- Do not put in the bin – simply let it evaporate in the open air.
- Do not put in water – the reaction can cause violent gas formation and splashing.
