Description

Live mealworms from our own breeding – protein-rich, wriggling and free from additives.

Mealworms (Tenebrio molitor) are rich in protein and healthy fats and also supply vitamins and minerals. Depending on feeding and rearing they contain 15–20% protein and 10–15% fat by fresh weight. They are bred to high quality standards – entirely without chemicals or pesticides.

Important note

Intended as a complementary feed – not as a complete feed.

Which animals is it suitable for?
  • Birds: chickens, wild birds such as tits, woodpeckers, robins
  • Reptiles: geckos, bearded dragons and other lizards
  • Amphibians & invertebrates: frogs, salamanders, tarantulas
  • Fish: larger ornamental fish such as cichlids
  • Small mammals: hamsters, mice, hedgehogs
Feeding recommendation

Make sure the diet is varied and the calcium-to-phosphorus ratio balanced – especially for reptiles and juveniles. Feeding the worms well before you offer them (gut loading) further improves their nutritional quality.

Benefits of live insects

Live mealworms encourage your animals to hunt and support their natural feeding behaviour. They are an important part of a species-appropriate diet and bring variety to the menu.

Many animals prefer moving prey and instinctively accept live mealworms more readily. Live feed also contains more moisture, vitamins and amino acids than dried alternatives.

Storage and care

At room temperature the mealworms keep for 4–6 weeks; in the fridge they last several months.

Feed the worms regularly with rolled oats and fresh fruit or vegetables, and make sure there is enough moisture.
