Mediterranean field crickets – substantial live feed for large and small terrarium animals.
The Mediterranean field cricket (Gryllus bimaculatus), also known as the two-spotted cricket, is excellent live feed for practically every insectivore – from the tiniest juvenile to the full-grown adult. Nutritious, active and easy to handle.
Available in three sizes: small, medium and large (adult).

Worth knowing: these crickets chirp loudly, can be aggressive, contain bitter compounds and sometimes sit completely still. They are well armoured, and not every animal takes them straight away.

From the tiny juvenile of about 3 mm to the adult of up to 35 mm, there is a suitable size for every animal.
Feeding recommendation
- Only offer as many crickets as your animals can catch straight away.
- Micro crickets suit small animals, adults suit large ones.
- Optionally dust with vitamin and mineral powder before feeding.
- Feed with tweezers or release into the terrarium – the crickets hardly hide.
- Take care: Mediterranean field crickets can nibble at small animals, so feed under supervision.

Storage and keeping
- Delivery is made in hygienic transport boxes with egg carton.
- Keep short-term at 18–30 °C, dry and well ventilated.
- For longer keeping use a spacious box such as a fauna box, with a lightly dampened cotton pad as a water source.
- Feed the crickets only as much as necessary to avoid overpopulation and nutrient loss.
- Avoid open water bowls – crickets drown in them or soak the nests.
