Migratory locusts – the substantial live feed for large insectivores.
The migratory locust (Locusta migratoria) has been one of the most popular live feeder insects for decades. At up to 6 cm, they will fill up even large insectivores. Their lively movement triggers the natural hunting instinct in reptiles, amphibians, birds and small mammals.
Available in small, medium, subadult and large (adult).

Which animals is it suitable for?
From the small green anole to the large monitor lizard, almost every terrarium animal benefits from these nutrient-rich locusts.

- Small mammals, e.g. marmosets, shrews

Feeding recommendation
- Only put as many animals into the terrarium as will be eaten within a short time.
- Large locusts are ideal for large insectivores, juveniles for smaller species.
- Dusting with vitamin and mineral powder before feeding is recommended.
- Feed with tweezers or release them into the terrarium – they do not hide.

Storage and keeping
- Delivery is made in hygienic transport boxes with egg carton as shelter.
- For longer keeping, move them into a larger, well-ventilated container such as a fauna box.
- Temperature: approx. 25–30 °C during the day, not below 20 °C at night
- Feed: untreated wheat bran and fresh greens such as wheat sprouts or dandelion – free from pesticides and chemicals
- Avoid moisture at all costs – locusts are very sensitive to damp.
