Egyptian Migratory Locusts – Live Feeder Insects
The Egyptian Migratory Locust (Locusta migratoria) has been one of the most popular live feeder insects for centuries. With sizes up to 6 cm, these impressive animals are perfect for satisfying even large insectivores. Their lively movement triggers the natural hunting instinct in many reptiles, amphibians, birds and small mammals – a real highlight in the feeding bowl.

Suitable for which animals?
From the small green anole to the large monitor, almost all terrarium animals benefit from these nutrient-rich locusts.

Feeding recommendation
Only place as many animals in the terrarium as will be eaten in a short time
Larger locusts are ideal for large insectivores, juveniles for smaller species
Before feeding we recommend dusting with vitamin and mineral powder
Feeding with tweezers or free in the terrarium is possible – the animals don’t hide

For longer storage: move into a larger, well-ventilated container (e.g. Faunabox)
Temperature: daytime approx. 25–30 °C, at night not below 20 °C
Food: untreated wheat bran, fresh greens (e.g. wheatgrass, dandelion) – free from pesticides and chemicals
Avoid moisture at all costs – locusts are very sensitive to wetness
Only offer fresh feed from a safe source
